Dixons Retail plc - Case Study
Dixons Retail is the leading European specialist retailer of consumer electronics with operations in 14 different countries around the world.
A change of leadership in the IT organisation and divisionalisation within the company meant there was an opportunity to re-structure the Group IT organisation to deliver performance improvements to the business.
Quantum Plus worked with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to support the organisation redesign and resulting change programme. We helped establish the new leadership team and then worked to define the optimal organisation structure, set strategic direction according to a 10 point plan and initiated a programme for change. Particular areas of activity included:
- an audit of the IT organisation
- the setting of objectives
- prioritisation of initiatives
- conducting a sourcing review
- identification of cost reduction targets
- assistance with the development of an IT strategy
The sourcing review evaluated the merits of continuing the in-house service provision compared with outsourcing to service providers who could offer combined onshore, nearshore and offshore capabilities. A strategic decision was taken to outsource IS provision using a hybrid delivery model including onshore and offshore services.
Quantum Plus continued working with Dixons to define the sourcing strategy for Dixons Financial Services (pan-European operations). This Business Process Outsourcing opportunity included:
- accounts payable
- accounts receivable
- other back office financial services
Quantum Plus has more recently conducted a number of other pieces of work for Dixons, including:
- the introduction of a Vendor Management function
- the implementation of a Managed Print Service
